1,000 Airport Fast Food Workers on Strike at San Francisco International Airport

1,000 workers at the San Francisco International Airport are on strike. The airport workers’ union, UNITE HERE Local 2, has warned travelers to bring their own food and drinks. Anand Singh, President of the union, says, “After nine months of negotiations and three years without a raise…workers are tired of jobs that aren’t enough to live on.” “We’re prepared to strike for as long as it takes to win better jobs and affordable health care,” he added. The strike began on September 26th and includes cashiers, baristas, cooks, dishwashers, bartenders, servers, and lounge attendants.
