New York, NY – State Senate Co-Leader Jeff Klein on Tuesday received the backing of the powerful Teamsters Joint Council 16. The Teamsters represent 120,000 workers in the New York area.

"Jeff Klein is a leader that has always been there for the Teamsters, whether we needed him fighting for workers in Albany or standing with us on the picket line," said Teamsters Joint Council 16 President George Miranda. "Klein understands the issues that are important to our members, like universal Pre-Kindergarten, expanding opportunities for immigrants, and raising wages for workers living in poverty."

Klein said, “I am pleased to have the support of Teamsters Joint Council 16 and will continue to work hard in the State Senate to keep New York affordable for hardworking families.”

Teamsters Joint Council 16 joins a long list of unions supporting Klein, who has received endorsements from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Workers Union, the Transportation Workers Union Local 100, the Plumbers Union Local 1, and the Uniformed Firefighters Association of Greater New York.
