New York, NY – This past Saturday, November 5th, I attended the 49th Annual Educational Leadership Conference of the Council of School Supervisors and administrators The event was held at the the Hilton in New York City.
The program drew almost two thousand school principals, supervisors, legislators and parents. As A CSA Member for over 4 decades this is the 40th Convention that I have attending.

CSA President Ernest Logan
began his address by shouting, “Labor is in the House”. In his speech he emphasized the role school supervisors and administrators play in the development of social , emotional and intellectual skills of children. President Logan discussed the strong system of public education that’s important for democracy to thrive.
Logan believes that we are in an era where hate speech fosters negative behavior. He stated that “we must take the country back from the haters”. Schools are the place where hate, bigotry and bullying can be defeated. School administrators must provide leadership in a process that combats bigotry and hate.
Chancellor Carmen Farina addressed the group with the theme of “A Day in the Life of a Principal”. Farina discussed the importance of quality leadership and its impact on the lives of children. Other speakers included New York State Regents Chair Betty Rosa, New York State Assembly Education Committee Chair Catherine Nolan and New York City Public Advocate Leticia James.
