Buffalo, NY – A host of Teamsters Local 449’s Leaders joined with the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve at their Union Hall in Buffalo on Tuesday (December 20th) to officially hand over more than $10,000 worth of donated new toys to help the well-known Toys For Tots Campaign.
As Local 449 Vice President/Business Agent Kevin Drysdale read a statement to a lone television reporter (who was there with WNYLaborToday.com as the only local media to cover the newsworthy event), a bumper sticker sat on a nearby table that read: Santa is a Teamster.
That message seemed to underscore Teamsters Local 449’s commitment to helping the less fortunate across the Buffalo area during this Holiday Season, a fact not lost on George Harrigan – who serves Teamsters Local 449’s Principal Officer and as President of the 12,000-Member Teamsters Western New York Joint Council #46. Local 449 represents 3,200 Members across Western New York who work for a number of employers.
Harrigan told WNYLaborToday.com that he was “extremely proud” of the “largest ever” donation made by his Active Membership, their families and the Local’s Retirees, as well as the Teamsters’ Horsemen Motorcycle Association Chapter 46, who were aided by a number of Teamster employers and other Unions (including The Buffalo Building & Construction Trades Council) and the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 17).
