The SAG-AFTRA agreement for low-budget and indie game productions provides an important framework for organizing new members in an expanding industry.

The newly negotiated contract allows unionized actors to work at competitive rates affordable to the lowest budget productions. Under this agreement,  a union actor can be hired for $825.50 to give a four hour voice session or eight hour motion-capture session. In addition, the pay schedule allows for a two hour session for $412.75, which is a notable change from the standard agreement and its four hour minimum. Critical to this contract is a 15.5 percent contribution to the AFTRA health and retirement fund.Under this contract, every hour worked will be credited to  both the actors healthcare and a pension.

This new agreement in an emerging industry will add thousands of good union jobs to members of SAG-AFTRA. The union continues to be a leader in the organizing of future as well as present jobs.
