New York, NY – “Les Liasisons Dangereuses” is a play adapted by Christopher from a 1782 novel by Choerlos De Laclos starring Live Schreiber and Janet McTeer who both give outstanding portrayals of seductive lovers.
The drama between the two leads could be absorbing and interesting but it is not. Obviously this show is not for children but for mature adults.
The story is about the capricious and manipulative games played by the Marquise de Merteruil ( Janet McTeer) and Valmont ( Live Schreiber ) who seek to shame and humiliate members of the French
Upper Class. the action should be engrossing and fun but it is not.
The play ponders along and loses the audience. The chemistry between the actors is greatly lacking and overall this is a dull and unpretentious production which excites no one.
