New York, NY – The Berkshire Theatre Group presents its production of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, George Abbott and Jerome Weidman’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Fiorello! Off- Broadway at the :East 13th street theater.
This is the first full production of Fiorello which is the story of Fiorello LaGuardia a three term mayor of New York City who was called the “Little Flower”. City Center has also produced this show in its wonderful musical series.
Fiorello opened on Broadway in 1959 and was jointly awarded the Tony with the Sound of Music beating out Hello Dolly (which is being revived in the spring of 2017 starring Bette Midler) for best musical.
In spite of a wonderful score, lyrics and book this production is quite like a; college production with non-equity players. Asking theater goers to pay $66-$99 for ticket is pushing the envelope.
You should wait to see this show until it is revived on Broadway or wait for City Center to produce Fiorello.
