In late October 2012, Hurricane Sandy ravaged the eastern coast of the US, leaving over 25,000 homes damaged in its wake. Two years later, much recovery work remains for the storm-battered communities that were most affected by the storm. To mark the 2-year anniversary of the storm, Rebuilding Together NYC is providing needed repairs with the help of 300 volunteers for homeowners and community members in the Rockaways on October 25, 2014.

With support from volunteers as well as local and national partners, Rebuilding Together NYC will rehabilitate this Queens community damaged by Hurricane Sandy. They will rebuild 9 homes and a community center that has been providing vital services in the Rockaway area. In addition, Rebuilding Together NYC will install 50 free solar-powered security lights through Their "Light it Up" program.

They are looking for sponsors and volunteer photographers for this project. Those interesed should contact Caitlin Yumori at caitlin.yumori@rebuildingtogethernyc.org
