On the last day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, President Stuart Appelbaum received the Champion of Labor Award. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presented Appelbaum with the award and thanked him for his leadership in the labor movement.
"There would be no Democratic Party if it were not for the labor movement," said Appelbaum.
"It warms my heart to fight every day for car wash workers, retail workers, and all working people throughout New York and our great country. Many of these workers struggle to survive, but with organized labor, they are able to better their lives.
