New York, NY – Peter Quinn has been appointed Chief Information Officer for the Department of Education (DOE) .
In his new role, Quinn will oversee the Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) for the DOE, where he will manage strategic planning and partnership development, advance citywide school technology strategy, implement improvements in administrative operations and data systems and foster innovation.
He will also oversee the development and enforcement of policy and procedures to ensure the integrity, security and privacy of information.
“Throughout his career, Peter has demonstrated a commitment to public service and getting results. We are very excited for him to bring his talent and experience to New York City,” said Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña. “I’m confident that Peter will bring the same passion, leadership and innovative thinking to his new role serving our City’s 1.1 million students, families and school staff.”
Prior to joining the DOE, Quinn served as Chief Information Officer for Massachusetts, where he helped develop and implement the state’s technology strategy and policy for more than 170 agencies, 20 public and private authorities, two branches of government and two university systems.
