Long Island, NY – The New York State AFL-CIO, which represents 2.5 million union members, their families, and retirees, announced that it has endorsed Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice (D) for Congress. The NYS AFL-CIO represents over 80,000 working men and women in Long Island's Fourth Congressional District.

New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento said, “As District Attorney, Kathleen Rice has proven that no one works harder for hardworking families than she does.  Kathleen Rice has never been scared to take on the tough fights, which is exactly the type of leadership and determination we need in Washington DC on important issues like increasing the minimum wage, extending unemployment insurance, fighting for immigration reform, and protecting Social Security and Medicare.”

“I’m honored to receive this endorsement and I’m thrilled to have New York State AFL-CIO’s members joining our grassroots supporters on the ground, talking to voters and sharing our vision on how to create jobs and ensure economic and social justice for all working people," said District Attorney Rice.

With the endorsement in place, the New York State AFL-CIO and Long Island Federation of Labor will be coordinating a comprehensive grassroots campaign to ensure Kathleen’s victory on Primary Day. Hundreds of volunteers will be talking with voters throughout the district: at train stations, in the streets and knocking on doors. With June 24th two weeks way, the next two weeks are critical to the campaign.
