New York, NY – On Friday December 16th, HUD Secretary Julian Castro joined Mayor Bill deBlasio announcing a major commitment to narrowing the digital divide in the Big Apple. Through this new commitment, T-Mobile will join as a stakeholder in HUD’s ConnectHome initiative.
The announcement took place at the BronxWorks Cornerstone Community Center at Betances Houses in the Bronx to highlight this new commitment. ConnectHome is an initiative to extend low-cost, high-speed internet access to families living in HUD-assisted housing. Through ConnectHome, internet service providers, non-profits, and the private sector are offering broadband access, technical training, digital literacy programs, and devices for residents in assisted housing units in communities across the nation.
