NYC Commercial Waste Zones Set Up

August 27, 2016
By Stephanie West

New York, NY – The Department of Sanitation has instituted a new policy that would create commercial waste zones throughout the city. Included in the regulation are strict sustainability goals and labor standards.

The reforms of the private waste carting industry address environmental problems, dangerous working conditions, and negative impacts on local communities. Under this system, it's expected thar the city will reduce truck traffic and diesel emission.

The reforms in this industry are key to accomplishing the city’s goal of zero waste by 2030.
