A new congressional study details the laxity in security in Benghazi prior to the attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. There was plenty of blame to go around. The president's approval numbers still hover around the low 40's, and so few Americans feel the country is headed in the right direction. On the flip side, housing foreclosures are at a 6-year low.

In his sixth year at the helm, Mr. Obama is promising to bypass Congress to achieve his agenda via executive orders on job growth, income equitability, and the environment. Supporters say it is about time; opponents worry about another 'imperial president.’ The meaning: the nation is terribly split and hardened.
