Robinsonville, Miss.-Table-game dealers at the Gold Strike Casino Resort are scheduled to vote Jan. 9 on whether to be represented by the United Auto Workers.
The UAW has been trying to organize the about 300 dealers, who run games such as poker, blackjack, dice, and roulette, for the last year. The casino/hotel, in the gaming district in Memphis’s Mississippi Delta suburbs, opened in 1994 and is owned by MGM Resorts. About 400 other workers there, primarily in food service and housekeeping, are represented by UNITE HERE, the Teamsters, and the International Union of Operating Engineers. Read more
