The 2200 workers locked out of their jobs by ATI Flat-Rolled Products this week lost their company health insurance. The United Steel Workers offered catastrophic health care coverage to the locked out workers free of charge.
ATI demanded a long list of concessions – 146 of them. Most of those demands stayed on the table until the workers were locked out by the company in August. The demands included dramatic cuts to health care, reductions in job security, changes in scheduling and more outsourced work to contractors.
