In reviewing the candidates for Congress in New York’s 6th Congressional District, LaborPress has endorsed Rory Lancman because of his outstanding record on labor issues. Rory has been a leading voice for working New Yorkers from the moment he was elected to the Assembly. He has consistently supported issues of importance to labor and communities including advocating for a minimum wage, safety in the workplace, legislation to protect the environment, millionaire’s tax, the Wage Theft Prevention Act, and keeping Walmart out of New York City.
In endorsing Lancman, John Durso, President of Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW said that “Throughout his career, Rory has demonstrated that he is a true champion for working New Yorkers. He is someone who understands the difficulties that working families face in today’s society and has dedicated himself to fighting on their behalf, a fight I know he will continue in Washington. Local 338 is proud to support him in his race for Congress.”
In DC37’s endorsement of Lancman, DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts stated that, "We have endorsed these candidates because of their record of standing by this union in our fight to protect the jobs, wages and benefits of our members and our retirees."
Stuart Appelbaum, President of RWDSU has stated that “Rory Lancman has been one of the most aggressive and effective advocates for working people in New York. Our endorsement of his candidacy sends a clear message: Rory is the candidate of working people in this Congressional race.”
Rory understands the struggle that ordinary New Yorkers face in this economy. Elected to the Assembly in 2006, Rory’s focus in Albany has been on fighting for economic opportunity, keeping workers safe on the job and keeping America and our allies safe from attack.
While we admire New York State Assemblywoman Grace Meng and New York City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, our pick for Congress in New York’s 6th Congressional District is Rory Lancman. We look forward to the leadership Rory Lancman will bring to Congress on the issues that matter to New Yorkers who work for a living.
The Democratic Primary is on June 26th.
