New York, NY- The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees endorsed Hillary Clinton for President Jan. 11, citing “her long record of fighting for workers’ rights and working families.”
Clinton, said International President Matthew Loeb, “is the only candidate that reached out to discuss issues affecting members of the IATSE.” Specifically, the union said, it looks forward to working with her on issues such as digital piracy, workers’ rights, and misclassification of workers. It noted in its announcement that it had praised Clinton last July for “calling out companies that misclassified workers as independent contractors.” IATSE, which represents behind-the-scenes entertainment workers such as stagehands and makeup artists, has about 125,000 members.
