Statement of New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento on Governor Cuomo's announcement to raise the minimum wage to $15 for state employees Albany NY. As thousands of workers demonstrate and protest across the country as part of the Fight for 15 Campaign, here in New York Governor Cuomo's announcement validates the power of collective action.
The governor's plan is another victory in the fight for economic fairness and will help improve the lives of thousands of state employees.We congratulate Danny Donohue, President of CSEA for helping to keep a focus on this important issue.We thank the governor for his leadership and for making social and economic justice for all workers a top priority.
