Is a new era of electric car assembly coming to the Bronx? The New York City Industrial Development Agency has proposed subsidies for Smith Electric Vehicles.

Smith, a Missouri-based company, is considering a location in the Bronx to build a manufacturing and distribution facility for its zero-emission commercial electric vehicles.

Also this month, proposals are expected to be heard for Jetro Cash & Carry in Queens and Kingdom Castle Food Corp, a supermarket in Staten Island.

Cost/benefit analysis on these projects are on the alerts page at goodjobsny.org. Anyone with concerns or comments about these proposals should participate in the public hearing on:

Thursday, October 6, 2011 , New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), at 10:00 am 110 William Street, 4th Floor, Manhattan
