Boston, Massachusetts – Another win for the Fight For $15 as 2015 draws to a close. Boston Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center staff will now be paid at least $15 an hour. That's the highest minimum wage for hospital staff in the Boston area. Right now the starting wage at Boston Medical Center for staff workers is $13 an hour.
Hundreds of housekeepers, food service workers, nursing assistants, and customer service representatives at Boston Medical Center and at Tufts will see raises under the new policy. The $15 an hour takes effect January 3rd at Boston Medical Center and will be phased in over 18 months at Tufts. In addition to those workers, roughly 35,000 personal care workers paid through MassHealth are also getting a wage hike to $15 an hour.
