The four unions representing workers at Detroit’s three casinos have reached a contract agreement that would give full-time workers a $4,250 signing bonus, the coalition said Dec. 7.
The proposed five-year deal would not raise wages until its fourth year, but would not require workers to pay more for health care, a provision management had wanted. Part-time workers, who make up about 1,200 of the 6,000 employees covered, would get a $3,400 bonus. Workers in the four Detroit Casino Council unions—UNITE HERE Local 24, United Auto Workers Local 7777, Teamsters Local 372, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324—will vote Sunday on whether to ratify it.
