Cinncinnanti, Ohio – Teamsters Local 100 held a one-day strike Mar. 10-11 against Airgas, an industrial-gas company with several facilities in the metropolitan area.
Their last contract expired Nov. 30, and workers said Airgas has made proposals that would destroy their job security, seniority rights, and their right not to cross other unions’ picket lines. “Airgas has been engaging in retaliation and bosses are threatening workers' fundamental workplace rights,” said Sam Bucalo, business agent and secretary-treasurer of Local 100. The French-based company Air Liquide, which bought Airgas for more than $13 billion in February, has not responded to requests from the union to help with “the deteriorating labor relations at Airgas,” Teamsters Tankhaul Division director Keith Gleason said in a statement.
