Noted Activist Weighs The Stakes For Labor And Progressives In the Presidential Race
A provocative discussion, “A Socialist Looks at Elections 2012”, will take place in Tribeca, September 24. The speaker, Bill Fletcher Jr, is the Director of Education and Field Services of the American Federation of Government Employees, based in Washington, D.C. Fletcher is the author of the newly released “They’re Bankrupting Us!” and “20 Other Myths about Unions” (Beacon Press). He is co-author (with Fernando Gapasin) of “Solidarity Divided: The Crisis in Organized Labor and a New Path toward Social Justice” (University of California Press).
The discussion is sponsored by the Left Labor Project, a group of socialist union members and supporters in New York City. Fletcher will address the impact of the campaign season on the labor movement and progressives in general – and of the possible outcomes in November.
The program will take place Monday, September 24, 2012, 6:00 pm at CWA Local 1180, 6 Harrison Street (lower level) in Tribeca, New York City.
