Washington, DC – Donald Trump may have vowed never to eat an Oreo again because Nabisco’s parent company is moving its Chicago bakery to Mexico—but the union representing the workers being displaced endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton for President June 16.
“While Donald Trump talks a good game on maintaining American jobs, his companies have a notorious history of outsourcing work to low-wage countries such as Mexico and China,” the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union said, lambasting the Republican for “his advocacy of policies that are against the interests of working people and organized labor” and “vile bigotry towards Latinos and other ethnic groups.” BCTGM International President David B. Durkee praised Clinton for her “solid record of support” on issues including “workers’ rights and organizing, workplace health and safety, health care, progressive tax policy and retirement security.” The union also represents workers at Altria, Kellogg, General Mills, Pepsico, Hershey, and Kraft.
