We are very excited to announce the off-Broadway premiere of BORDER PEOPLE, written & performed by Dan Hoyle (The Block) and directed by Kel Haney. Fresh off its critically acclaimed, four extensions run at the Marsh in San Francisco, the New York run will begin off-Broadway January 25- February 23, 2020, at the AR.T./New York Gural Theatre before touring the Five Boroughs in March. Based on conversations with immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and border crossers of all kinds at both the North and Southern borders, the play is a startling gallery of portraits of those who cross borders, geographical or cultural, by necessity or choice.

And we’re thrilled to announce a second off-Broadway production in February 2020: THE BEST OF THEATERWORKS! will feature six of the best short plays to come out of the last 19 years of our TheaterWorks! playwriting and performance classes… stay tuned for the big reveal of the full schedule and lineup!

Working Theater’s 2020 season will also feature the continuation of our Five Boroughs/ One City Initiative, creating theater in collaboration with communities across New York City,  3 sessions of our TheaterWorks! playwriting and performance classes, Training & Educational Plays offered to unions and advocacy organizations across the city, and a Reading Series of classic Working Theater hits and brand new plays.

Want to hear more and raise a glass to our new season?  Join us at our Season Kickoff Party Monday, December 9th at Mustang Harry’s! Check out www.theworkingtheater.org and stay tuned for more announcements to come!
