CSEA Rochester Public Library Workers Ratify Labor Deal

Rochester, NY - The Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)-represented City of Rochester Library Workers - Local 828/Unit 7420, which represents 129 part time Employees serving the Central Library and 10 City Branch Libraries, unanimously ratified a new contract agreement on Thursday (July 13th), Union Officials announced.

The new deal – which expires on June 30th, 2021 - includes a Cost-Of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 7.5% over four years.  Other contractual benefits agreed to include one additional paid holiday, a slight increase in a transportation subsidy and extra time off for bereavement leave.

“This agreement is a ‘victory for decent wages and improved working conditions,’” said CSEA Spokesperson Ove Overmyer.  “CSEA is ‘especially thankful for a terrific partnership with library management and City Hall.’  This is a ‘fair deal that helps Workers improve their lives so they can continue to deliver the high quality of library services our community has come to know, love and respect.’”

CSEA - New York State’s Leading Union - represents a variety of Workers employed by New York State and its counties, towns, villages, school districts, library systems, authorities and public corporations.

Together, with a growing population of Private Sector Members and Retirees, CSEA forms a Union that is 300,000 strong.

CSEA is also the largest affiliate (and Local 1000) of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) - which, in turn, is one of the largest affiliates of the National AFL-CIO.
